Engravings

Almost all of our signet rings are finished with an engraving. These can be applied in precious metals such as platinum and gold, as well as in gemstones. We work only with the finest engravers in Europe to give your beautifully crafted signet ring a top-quality engraving.

We distinguish two different types of engraving: those engraved to be read directly, and those engraved to make a seal impression.

A readable engraving is engraved the right way round. The image appears just as you see it in reality, so visually readable. Like print, only rendered in relief. The engraving intended for making a seal impression is engraved in mirror image and releasing. After you have made an impression in warm wax, your signet ring releases cleanly because the edges of the engraving are cut at a slight outward angle, so no wax remains in the ring. We call this a releasing engraving. (The photos give a fine impression of this.)
