Your Dutch ring size equals the inner circumference of your finger in millimetres. Below you will find the full conversion chart and instructions on how to measure at home.
The Dutch ring size is simple: the number equals the inner circumference of your finger in millimetres. A ring size 54 therefore means an inner circumference of 54 mm. For a signet ring a good fit is especially important: it is heavier than an ordinary ring and should sit firmly yet comfortably.

How to measure your ring size at home
- Wrap a thin strip of paper or a piece of string around the finger the ring is intended for.
- Mark the point where the loop closes exactly.
- Measure the length up to the mark in millimetres; that is your ring size (NL).
- Or measure the inner circumference of a ring that already fits well.
Preferably measure at the end of the day, when your fingers are slightly thicker, and bear in mind the width of a signet ring: wide rings generally fit a little more snugly.

Measure the inner circumference of a ring that fits well with a ruler (circumference in mm), or wrap a thin strip of paper around your finger, mark where the loop closes and measure the length in millimetres. That length in mm is your Dutch ring size. Preferably measure at the end of the day, when your fingers are slightly thicker.
What is ring size 6 in the Dutch system?
American size 6 corresponds to an inner circumference of approximately 52 mm (diameter ±16.6 mm), which is Dutch ring size 52.
What is the average ring size for a signet ring?
For men the average ring size is around 60 to 64 (circumference in mm), for women around 52 to 56. Because a signet ring should sit firmly, we prefer to measure your size in person during your appointment.
Can a signet ring be enlarged or reduced later?
In many cases, yes. Because our signet rings are made in our own atelier, we can adjust the size of most models. Please ask about this during your appointment.
