The shape of the face: oval, octagon, round, straight-shouldered or antique
The face is the character of the ring. The oval model is the classic: elegant, timeless and with ample surface for a family crest. The octagon has straight facets and looks sharper, which appeals to many gentlemen. A round face is more subtle and lends itself well to a monogram or initials. The straight-shouldered model combines straight shoulders with a flat face and has a bold, traditional character. Finally, the antique model references historical signet rings and suits those who love a distinctive, classic look.
Signet rings with a stone or in solid precious metal
With signet rings you choose between a solid face and a face with an engraved gemstone. In a solid ring, the crest or monogram is cut directly into the gold: warm, classic and all of a piece. A gemstone, such as layered agate, heliotrope or onyx, gives the ring colour and depth. The layered structure of agate makes a crest engraving especially striking. Both versions are equally durable; the difference is mainly aesthetic.

A signet ring should sit firmly yet comfortably, especially on the little finger. The size of your little finger differs from that of your other fingers, so do not simply measure an existing ring. Finally, the choice that makes the ring truly personal: the engraving. A full family coat of arms, an intertwined monogram or graceful initials, cut by hand into stone or metal.
